Terms of use

Every round has rules.

These terms set the ground rules for using Roundline, including its GPS, scoring, shared-play, course, and community features.

Effective July 29, 2026

The short version

  • Roundline is intended for adults age 18 and over.
  • Keep profiles, courses, and shared games respectful and golf-related.
  • GPS and course information must be independently verified on the course.
  • Bet units are scorekeeping only, not real-money wagering.

1. Accepting these terms

By creating a Roundline profile or using a feature that creates or shares content with other golfers, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, you may continue using eligible local features but may not create or upload community content.

Roundline is operated by Ben McArdle and is intended for adults age 18 and over. You must be legally able to accept these terms where you live.

2. Accounts and security

Provide accurate account information, protect your credentials, and promptly report unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity under your account and for obtaining permission before entering another person's name, email, handicap, photo, or score.

Roundline may suspend, restrict, or close accounts that create risk, violate these terms, evade enforcement, or misuse shared game codes.

3. Community content

Community content includes display names, profile photos, public courses, course corrections, live-game names and state, tournament rosters, and other material visible to another user. You retain ownership of content you create.

You give Roundline a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, display, and adapt that content only as needed to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the features you choose. You represent that you have the right to submit the content.

Objectionable content and behavior are prohibited. The complete standards, reporting process, blocking controls, and enforcement approach are in the Community Guidelines.

4. Safety, GPS, and course accuracy

Roundline is a golf aid, not a safety, emergency, surveying, navigation, or rules-officiating service. GPS, hazards, green shapes, distances, pars, handicaps, ratings, slopes, and imported course data can be missing, delayed, or inaccurate. Confirm conditions, boundaries, local rules, and safe routes yourself.

Do not look at or operate the app when doing so would be unsafe. Follow course instructions, posted restrictions, and applicable laws.

5. Scoring, games, and bet units

Score and handicap calculations are informational and may not satisfy tournament, GHIN, governing-body, or club submission requirements. Verify official results independently.

Bet units and doubles are a scorekeeping ledger only. Roundline does not arrange, process, collect, hold, or pay real-money bets. You are responsible for complying with laws and course rules.

6. Third-party services

Roundline uses services including Supabase, Google, Spotify, Sentry, OpenStreetMap, Esri, and course-data providers. Their availability and terms are outside Roundline's control. Spotify is optional, and Roundline is not endorsed by or affiliated with Spotify, Google, GHIN, or any golf governing body unless expressly stated.

7. Prohibited technical use

  • Do not disrupt, overload, probe, scrape, or bypass security or access controls.
  • Do not use automated means to harvest accounts, private data, share codes, or provider data.
  • Do not reverse engineer the service except where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Do not use Roundline to violate another party's rights or third-party terms.

8. Availability and responsibility

Roundline is provided on an "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, no warranty is made that it will always be uninterrupted, accurate, secure, or error-free. You use the app and make on-course decisions at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Roundline and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the app. These limits do not exclude rights that cannot legally be excluded.

9. Ending use and changes

You may stop using Roundline and delete your account at any time. Roundline may update these terms as features or legal requirements change. Material updates will be presented for acceptance before you create or upload more community content.
