This policy explains what Roundline handles, why it is used, when it may be visible to other golfers, and the choices available to you.

Effective July 27, 2026

At a glance

  • Live GPS is used for distances, not a continuous location history.
  • Roundline does not sell personal information or include advertising.
  • Spotify is optional and can be disconnected at any time.
  • You can delete your account in the app or request deletion online.

1. Who we are

Roundline is a golf companion application operated by Ben McArdle. It provides GPS distances, score and stat tracking, group games, tournament planning, course setup, and optional Spotify controls. Privacy questions can be sent to privacy@roundlinegolf.com.

2. Information Roundline handles

Account and profile information

When you create a permanent account, Roundline handles your email address, display name, Supabase user identifier, authentication information, and optional profile photo. Password authentication is provided by Supabase; Roundline does not store a readable copy of your password. Google sign-in may provide your account identifier, email, and profile metadata that you authorize.

Profile photos are stored in a public Supabase Storage bucket so they can appear to friends, teammates, and leaderboard participants. Anyone with a public image URL may be able to view that image.

Roundline may create an anonymous Supabase identity when someone creates or joins a live group game without upgrading to a permanent account. That identity includes a generated identifier and the display name entered for the game.

Golf, course, and round information

Roundline handles course names, location descriptions, tees, ratings, slope, hole handicaps, pars, yardages, and coordinates for tees, greens, pins, and course targets. Round information may include scores, putts, penalties, fairways, greens, miss directions, selected holes, calculated summaries, teams, pairings, game formats, scoring control, bet units, doubles, and tournament rosters.

Active rounds, imported courses, scorecards, tournament drafts, and pending offline changes may be stored on the device so work can resume after the app closes. Android backup services may retain a device backup when enabled. Permanent account holders can choose to store round history and course records in Roundline's Supabase backend.

Location information

Roundline requests approximate and precise device location to calculate live distances and help determine the current hole. Location is watched while the GPS experience is active. Roundline does not intentionally upload a continuous trail of your live device coordinates to its Supabase database.

Course target coordinates can be saved locally or uploaded as part of a course record. Course search, maps, and geometry providers may receive network information and the geographic area requested.

Friends and shared play

Users can search for another account by email and send a friend request. Accepted friends may see each other's display names, profile photos, and email addresses. Members of a shared game can see member names, player profile information included in the game, scores, teams, pairings, game state, and scoring control.

Spotify information

Spotify connection is optional. If connected, Roundline can control playback and read the current track, artist, album, playback position, artwork, playlists, and playlist owners. The access token is used by the native integration and is not intentionally stored in Roundline's Supabase database. Roundline stores the preference to attempt reconnection.

Scorecard scanning

The optional scanner uses Google Play services Document Scanner and ML Kit text recognition. Roundline receives extracted text, word positions, confidence values, and image dimensions so you can review parsed course information. The image and scan result are not intentionally uploaded to Roundline's backend unless you later upload the resulting course data.

Diagnostics and support

Sentry may receive crash reports, stack traces, app release, platform and device context, technical breadcrumbs, a pseudonymous Roundline user identifier, and approximate city/region derived from the network connection. Roundline disables performance tracing and failed-request capture, removes request data and stable device identifiers from JavaScript events, and redacts common secrets, email-like text, precise coordinates, and golf-specific private fields before sending.

A signed-in user can submit a problem report containing the category, severity, title, description, reproduction steps, app release, platform, optional Sentry event ID, and bounded diagnostic context.

3. How information is used

  • Provide GPS, course, scoring, statistics, game, tournament, history, and music features.
  • Create accounts, profiles, friendships, and shared-game access.
  • Save and synchronize information you ask Roundline to retain.
  • Restore interrupted work and retry offline changes.
  • Diagnose failures, answer support requests, secure the service, and prevent abuse.
  • Improve course information and product quality from submitted corrections and reports.

Roundline does not currently sell personal information, serve advertising, or process real-money wagers or payouts. Bet units are a scorekeeping ledger only.

4. Service providers and disclosure

Roundline relies on:

  • Supabase for authentication, database records, storage, Edge Functions, and live game updates.
  • Google for sign-in, Android services, document scanning, text recognition, and optional device backup.
  • Spotify for authorization, playback control, playlists, metadata, and artwork.
  • Sentry for crash and diagnostic reporting.
  • OpenGolfAPI and optional golf-course data providers for course directory information.
  • OpenStreetMap and Overpass for golf-course geometry.
  • Esri for satellite map tiles during course setup.

These providers process information under their own terms. Information is also disclosed to other users when required for features you choose, including public course uploads, accepted friendships, shared games, tournament rosters, scorecards, and leaderboards. Roundline may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a business transaction with appropriate notice.

5. Retention

  • Device-only data remains until you clear it, uninstall the app, or the operating system removes it. A device backup may retain a separate copy.
  • Account, profile, friendship, avatar, uploaded-course, bug-report, and saved-history records remain while the account exists unless you remove an available item.
  • Completed team games and event logs currently do not have an automatic expiration schedule.
  • Sentry and other providers retain technical and backup data according to their configured plans and security requirements.

6. Your choices and deletion

You can decline optional Spotify connection, choose whether to upload a course, remove available saved records, clear app data, and control Android permissions through device settings.

Permanent account deletion removes the Supabase authentication identity and deletes or anonymizes associated profile, friendship, course, history, report, game-membership, and avatar data. A shared game may be transferred to another member, and a scorecard stored by another golfer may retain an anonymized "Deleted golfer" entry so that golfer can keep the scorecard. Read the account deletion instructions.

7. Security

Roundline uses authenticated access controls, Supabase row-level security, scoped storage policies, and encrypted HTTPS connections for configured network services. No security measure is perfect. Protect your credentials and share live-game codes only with the intended group.

8. Children

Roundline is intended for adults and is not directed to children. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact privacy@roundlinegolf.com.

9. Changes and contact

This policy may change as Roundline evolves. The current version will always show its effective date. Questions and privacy requests can be sent to privacy@roundlinegolf.com.
